my take on ETSY

I have gotten a few questions like "what is Etsy?" and why am I on there? So... Etsy is an online marketplace for all things handmade, the supplies used to make handmade items (i.e. scrapbook supplies) and vintage...it is not an auction site, each seller has their own unique store. I have long wanted to have a website with all my scrapbook supplies in one place but I lack the know-how or interest in creating a website w/shopping cart...so I think this is a great place for me. Check out my shop and let me know what you think. I ship worldwide and accept paypal, credit cards, check and money orders. I also can zero out the shipping for you if you live locally or want to pick up your order (just message me before you check out w/ your purchase.)

Here are a few of my favorite Etsy shops (besides mine...wink wink)
Paisley Handmade great items for babies and moms (& the best mullings spices!) made by Jenny in Orange City, IA (like this flower onesie!)

Lovely hand crocheted flowers & more by Lily (see my previous post for how I use them on my scrapbook pages...and hats--below)

Sweet hair bows and beanies!
Cute hair clips made in South Dakota
Awesome art & items by ElenaMary
my list could go on (and on... just look in my favorites if you don't believe me) but I'll stop here for now (:

Love Letters: Random Cards of Kindness

Shae (my daughter)'s wonderful storyhour group @ our library made cute monkey cards for this great cause: LOVE LETTERS. We made a few at home (I must preface this picture by saying I do not make cards, but I do make an exception for good causes) and here they are.

Please take a minute to visit LOVE LETTERS and make a few cards yourself, they distribute them to children with life-threatening illnesses, and they are a non-profit organization. Read more here. btw...my owl says "whoooo's the best? You Are!" inside. And...umm...that's a calculator that says "You're #1!" in case you can't tell...remember I said I don't do cards!
(:--Janelle

note: please be sure to read through the guidelines @ Love Letters and then send your cards to: Kaitlyn Chana/Love Letters, 865 N State Road 434, Altamonte Springs, FL, 32714

New papers and pages to share!

I love this new Page Kit: Boho Chic...with reversible papers! I made these layouts using the papers and some 3D Foam letters (cream Thickers). The page kit includes coordinating stickers not shown here. The crocheted flowers are handmade by Lily's Crochet...I love them!

2nd Parent/Child Scrapbooking Night!

We will be offering our 2nd Parent/Child Scrapbooking Class through the Sibley Recreation Department! Tentative date is Tuesday, March 10th @ 5:30pm...more details in upcoming rec. flyer! This will be a fun night to create a special craft project with your child or grandchild!
This time we will be making Paper-Bag Albums, they are a lot of fun to put together and I've been selling them at my craft shows & teaching how-to classes using the kits I put together for a few years, they have been very popular. I will have kits available in several color themes-- suitable for boys or girls! They hold up to about 20 photos, depending on the size of the pictures. I hope you & your child(ren) will join us! (my daughter is very excited to have another scrapbook night, she had a blast last time and was so proud of her album- as was I!)

PS-- This time, Parents may chose to make an album themselves alongside their children. Just mark "2" on the registration form so I'll have enough kits available!

Class cost: $5.00 per kit. You can sign up via online registration when the new flyer comes out (mid-January) or send the paper registration back to school w/ your child.
Hope to see you on March 10th! --Janelle

Here's a sneak peek at one of the fun projects we'll be making! (Each project will be available in several color choices for the girls to pick from!) We will also be doing another mini-project (I'll post a photo of that one soon, so check back!) & several 12x12 scrapbook layouts, it will be a lot of fun so I hope you sign up!

Happy Monday Post...and Happy 2009!!

Hi! I've been a bit lacking in my blogging lately...but now that school's back in session I've got to get with it too! I had a fun couple weeks having my husband home and spending time with the family and our kids, and celebrating holidays and our littlest girls 1st birthday!
Here's what's newest to my scrapbook store this week...two great new page kits just in time to scrapbook those holiday memories and snowy days! I've been busy putting things in my etsy shop and these are few of the kits that've made it in my online store so far! I just love the papers and these new cardstock stickers-- they are thick and die-cut to the shape so they are a great alternative to regular die-cuts b/c you don't have to use all that tape runner/glue since they are fun stickers!! These page kits include: 2 each of 2 different patterned cardstock and the cardstock sticker sheet, and each are just $6 or 4 for $20 on all the page kits. (:

Happy Scrapp'n and Happy New Year!!
